8th Anniversary

I guess I should rename the comic to "Drops Destroyers."

Eight years? Are there any readers from the beginning who are still here with me?

Of course, eight years includes some very long breaks, but overall, yeah. The story is still going strong, and I've plenty of plans and ideas for the future, so we won't be stopping any time soon.

Again I'd like to thank my friend Soma for being my #1 fan and my ideas/brainstorming go-to guy. We wouldn't be here without him, and that's a fact!

So, new readers and old, let me tell you that I appreciate each and every one of you. And I love reading all your comments. It definitely keeps me motivated to hear from you all. It's half the fun, I think!

Here's to another year.

Soma's Birthday 2013

This is my rogue, Matthew "Fiftyfingers" Finnegan, and my friend Soma's gunslinger, Daichi Midorikawa. We played Ragnarok Online together with these two characters, and because of that, Soma speculated that they should be friends. So I made this comic with them as friends.

In game, I liked to have Matt stand near the edge of cliffs and shout that he's gonna jump. He thinks it's funny--but he's never actually jumped before! He's not really suicidal--he's a lighthearted, cheerful guy.

And Midorikawa is all about keeping his cool under pressure and looking stylish. He would definitely not want to get his clothes wet! Midorikawa was cameo'd in the recent hidden temple story arc, where he had nothing to say because of how ridiculous he thought the situation was.

And about Soma...

From fan to friend to an integral part of the story-writing process -- that is Soma! Poring Pelters wouldn't be the same without him, and in fact, probably would have ended somewhere in chapter 2. He keeps me going and keeps me from getting lazy. I'm very grateful to have him as a friend. I can't even describe it. And it was very hard not to tell him I was making this comic for him!

Though... I think he'll be a little sad that I put this up instead of an actual update, hehe~

MSPaint Comic

I got bored when my main comp died in December of 2006. So...
I made this entirely in MSpaint! I have no Ragnarok Online, so couldn't take a background screenshot, no Photoshop to make the text boxes transparent. Although I do have access to the character spritesheets, I felt like drawing them freehand in Paint instead o_oa
The pecopeco was hand-drawn on paper, then scanned in & colored in Paint.

As for comments about the comic ...
You can't see the sun in RO, so that's what that's about. If it weren't for Juno city & the airship, you would never see the sky in RO either.

I've been playing lots of Final Fantasy V. If you're not familiar with the series, they have birds called Chocobos which are the basis of RO's Pecopecos. One of the more famous Chocobos is the Fat Chocobo, which is often available as a summoner class character's spell.

No lie, I had Galuf in my FF5 game as a White Mage/Summoner when he went up against Exdeath. Since I was too low on SP for the big summons, and too cheap to use Sp-healing potions, and since mages aren't melee-capable, I had to Fat Chocobo the enemy to death.

And real Chocobos say 'Wark!' not 'Kweh!' -_-
But real Pecopecos say 'Honka!'

And I don't know what possessed me to put in a mage character here who won't even be seen in the comic for another year, if not longer.

So, friend Powder Rune told me to make a 'wtf' comic for the fun of it. I think it's more like a 'hmm? o.oa' comic, though.
It took longer to make this than it takes for me to make four normal comics. It's given me a lot of respect for Aragan of Ragnarok Wisdom for using MSPaint as his primary comic-drawing medium.

Okay, so if Fwuffles has GM powers & can summon a monster, why can't he just summon some Bacon for Kenny?

Uribo sprite used is © Square-Enix. It's from Final Fantasy Tactics, my ultimate favorite game ever.
(Side comment: Don't you -dare- talk to me about FFT: Advance. Just like RO2, I am not interested. Period.)
Uribo is pretty weak in FFT. The skill is actually called "Straight Dash" but its description says "Run like hell and tackle the enemy." So I took some liberties.

Trogdor was the name of Kenny's horse in the Korean MMORPG Mabinogi. Kenny always fed Troggy bacon.
Yes, I know the name is from Homestarrunner.

Anyway, happy birthday, Kenny. Hope I didn't offend you this time =x

Now about the comic:
Amazingly my eyes did not burn when I made this. Not pink enough, perhaps.

Idea courtesy of Herro, who didn't actually come up with it but somehow inspired the idea.

Bubble-gum priest & knight! I -didn't- just brush over those lovely pink guys; I really edited the colors that way. Or rather, palette swapped them. I think it looks better than some other palettes I've seen.

For Rogu's birthday, he's got a shiny new fishtank & plans to get a lionfish for it. I can't wait to see it!

He ended up getting an army of damselfish instead. And then they killed each other. Salt water turned out to be hard to keep!

As of Oct. 2009 we have: 1 six-lined wrasse, 1 pajama cardinal fish and 1 bangai (sp?) cardinal fish.

And a murderous crab. That six-lined wrasse is our 2nd one because of it.

In the future I will have a tank with a cowfish, clown triggerfish, fu man chu lionfish, and a porcupine pufferfish! None of these are reef-safe so we can't get any to put in the current tank. But they will go well together for a fish-only tank.

Gosh I talked more than normal. But I love fish !!

Since I don't play RO anymore, it really will be my friends who inspire me to continue the comic.

Those poor chars in panel 4 have been in my mind for years now, but they've received not even an appearance until now. Oh well, eh.

And boy, oh boy, why am I giving the Keth & Ellsy fo-evar fanclub any help? Eep!

Keth should resolve to lose that Ribbon >_>

Christmas 2007

Those little guys are hand-made by me! I used felt for the bodies and fabric paint for the eyes. Angeling's wings have real feathers (well maybe; they came in a bag). The halo and candycane are made of pipecleaners.

Drops nearly died to my dog thinking he was a chew toy. Don't worry. He's a tough little jelly blob.

Santa poring has been moved to a safe home.

Oh yeah and they are stuffed full of fluffy cotton balls (not loots hehe).

I sent the Santa Poring to my online boyfriend at the time. He still has it, I think. I don't do online dating anymore, though.
